Who We Are

GoldTrust is a South African precious metals buyer based in Johannesburg, serving clients across the country. We buy gold, silver, platinum, and palladium in every form: jewellery, coins, bars, scrap, broken pieces, and unwanted estate items. We also buy luxury watches.

We exist for one reason: most people who need to sell precious metals do not feel safe doing it. The traditional pawn-shop model is rushed, opaque, and pressures the seller into accepting whatever number is on offer. We built GoldTrust as the opposite of that. Private appointments, full visibility into how your offer is calculated, and zero pressure to sell.

GoldTrust operates as a regulated business under South African law. The accountability behind every transaction is documented and verifiable.

  • Licensed second-hand goods dealer. Issued under the Second-Hand Goods Act, which governs how we identify sellers, record transactions, and report to law enforcement.
  • Registered high-value goods dealer (FIC Act). We are an accountable institution under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, with anti-money-laundering and customer due-diligence obligations.
  • Member of the Jewellery Council of South Africa (JCSA). We are bound by the JCSA Code of Ethics on every transaction. Our current membership certificate is published on this site.
  • Fully insured. Our optional collection and courier service is insured end-to-end, so your items are covered from the moment we collect them until payment is made.

How We Work With You

The process is the same whether you are selling one ring or an entire estate.

  1. You make contact through the form on this page, by phone, or via WhatsApp. We confirm what you have and arrange a private appointment, either at one of our offices or at your home.
  2. At the appointment, every item is tested and weighed in front of you. We explain how the live international gold price converts to rand, how karat purity affects the offer, and we walk you through the arithmetic.
  3. If our offer works for you, we pay by instant EFT before we leave. If it does not, your items go home with you. There is no fee, no obligation, and no pressure either way.
