Why Sell Your TAG Heuer to GoldTrust?
TAG Heuer has a split personality in the collector market. Modern Carrera and Monaco chronographs are solid Swiss watches with broad appeal. Vintage pre-TAG Heuer (before 1985) is a serious collector category where references like the Carrera 2447, Autavia, Monaco 1133, and early Silverstone can command significant prices. A proper valuation reads the difference.
At GoldTrust we identify the reference, inspect the movement, assess the dial and case, and build the offer in front of you. Every step is explained. If it does not work, the watch stays with you, no fee. If it does, payment via instant EFT lands during the visit.
GoldTrust is a licensed second-hand goods dealer, registered high-value goods dealer, accountable institution, and Jewellery Council of South Africa member.
TAG Heuer Collections We Buy
- Carrera. The flagship chronograph. Cal. 1887, Heuer 02, Heuer 01, and earlier ETA-based references. Multiple case sizes and dial variants. Vintage Heuer Carrera (pre-1985) is a separate, highly collectable category.
- Monaco. The iconic square-cased chronograph. Cal. 11, 12, and modern Cal. 11 reissues, Heuer 02. Among TAG Heuer’s most recognisable references.
- Aquaracer. Dive watch family, 300m and 500m variants, steel and titanium, multiple generations.
- Formula 1. Entry-level sports watches. Quartz and automatic variants.
- Link. Integrated-bracelet luxury sports line.
- Autavia. Motorsport-aviation chronograph heritage collection, vintage and reissue.
- Connected. Smartwatch line, assessed case by case.
- Vintage Heuer. Pre-1985 Carrera, Autavia, Silverstone, Camaro, Monaco, and Skipper references. Condition, dial originality, and calibre drive vintage valuation significantly.
What Affects Your TAG Heuer’s Value
- Reference and generation. Vintage Heuer and limited editions carry premiums. Current Aquaracer and Formula 1 references are priced on standard grounds.
- Movement. Manufacture Heuer 02 and Heuer 01 calibres, cal. 1887, and vintage cal. 11 and 12 chronograph movements all price differently from ETA-based entry references.
- Condition. Case geometry, dial originality, bezel insert condition, bracelet condition, and movement health.
- Vintage originality. For pre-1985 Heuer, dial, hands, bezel insert, crown, and bracelet originality are critical. Replacements reduce value significantly.
- Limited editions and collaborations. Formula 1, Senna, and other motorsport editions can carry premiums when documented.
- Box and papers. Full set supports stronger offers. Vintage pieces rarely have original boxes; that is normal and does not materially hurt the offer.
Box, Papers, and Service History
A full set TAG Heuer includes the watch, presentation box, outer box, warranty card, booklets, spare links, and purchase invoice if available. Full sets support stronger offers, particularly on limited editions and Manufacture references.
Watch-only is perfectly sellable on modern TAG Heuer. Vintage Heuer almost never has original paperwork, which is expected and does not reduce value materially.
Service records from TAG Heuer or authorised service centres are a positive. Independent service records are generally neutral.
Preparing Your TAG Heuer for Valuation
- Do not polish the case. Particularly important on vintage Heuer where original case geometry drives value.
- Bring the full set if you have it. Box, warranty card, booklets, spare links.
- Note anything non-original. Replacement dial, bezel, hands, or movement parts. Upfront disclosure leads to the most accurate valuation.
- Bring ID. Valid SA ID or passport for FIC compliance.
- Book an appointment at one of our offices across Gauteng, including Sandton, Pretoria, Centurion, Boksburg, Cresta, and Bedfordview. We also serve Umhlanga, Cape Town, and George . Home visits available in many areas by arrangement.
Inspection, reference identification, offer, and payment all happen in one appointment.
