Our complimentary collection service has successfully facilitated thousands of transactions across South Africa, allowing our clients to sell their valuable items without leaving the comfort and security of their homes or offices. We have organised numerous collections at no charge to our clients, with our fully insured courier service ensuring your precious items are handled with the utmost care and security throughout the entire process. This convenient service is part of our commitment to providing exceptional value and customer service, setting us apart from others in the industry.
Reservation of Rights
GoldTrust reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to determine the eligibility of items for our free collection service. While we strive to provide free, fully insured collection for most transactions, certain limitations apply:
- Item Assessment: GoldTrust may decline to offer free collection based on our assessment of the item’s size, weight, value, condition, or authenticity as described during the initial enquiry process.
- Location Restrictions: Free collection may not be available in all areas of South Africa. Remote locations, areas with security concerns, or regions outside our established service network may be subject to additional fees or alternative collection arrangements.
- Value Thresholds: GoldTrust may establish minimum value thresholds for free collection eligibility. These thresholds may be adjusted periodically based on market conditions and operational costs.
- Alternative Arrangements: In cases where free collection is not available, GoldTrust may offer: Collection service with an additional fee or the option to drop the items at a secure drop off point.
- Advance Notice: GoldTrust will inform clients of collection eligibility prior to finalising any transaction commitment. No costs will be incurred without your explicit approval.
- Cancellation and Rescheduling: GoldTrust reserves the right to reschedule or cancel collection appointments due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to extreme weather, civil unrest, or courier service disruptions.
- Service Modification: GoldTrust may modify, suspend, or discontinue the free collection service at any time without prior notice, though we will honour arrangements already confirmed in writing.
By using GoldTrust’s collection service, you acknowledge and agree to these terms and conditions. GoldTrust maintains these policies to ensure we can continue offering competitive valuations while providing convenient collection options for our clients.
Disclaimer
The materials on GoldTrust’s website are provided on an ‘as is’ basis. GoldTrust makes no warranties, expressed or implied, and hereby disclaims and negates all other warranties including, without limitation, implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of intellectual property or other violation of rights.
Limitations
In no event shall GoldTrust or its suppliers be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data or profit, or due to business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the materials on GoldTrust’s website, even if GoldTrust or a GoldTrust authorized representative has been notified orally or in writing of the possibility of such damage.
Accuracy of Materials

Users agree to provide accurate and complete information for all transactions and to comply with any applicable laws governing such transactions. GoldTrust reserves the right to modify, cancel, or refuse transactions at its discretion.
Best Price Guarantee
GoldTrust offers a Best Price Guarantee: where a client presents a written quotation from another licensed precious-metals or second-hand goods dealer for the same item, on equivalent terms, GoldTrust will beat that quotation. This guarantee reflects our standing commercial commitment to offer the most competitive price in the South African market, and the verification provisions below exist solely to ensure that competing quotations are genuine, current, and capable of execution. Eligible quotations will be matched and improved upon in good faith and without unreasonable delay.
Verification and Carve-Outs
- Sole Discretion: GoldTrust will assess each price-match request in its sole and absolute discretion, applying the criteria set out below in good faith.
- Form of Quotation: The competing quotation must be a bona fide written offer, signed or otherwise verifiably issued by the competing dealer, identifying the dealer, the item, the offer price, and the date of the offer.
- Equivalent Terms: The competing quotation must be made on equivalent terms to those offered by GoldTrust, including the same metal, fineness, weight, condition, payment method, and timing of payment. Quotations conditional on additional purchases, bundled items, store credit, deferred payment, or non-cash settlement do not qualify.
- Currency and Executability: The competing quotation must be currently valid and capable of immediate execution at the time of GoldTrust’s review. Expired quotations, indicative or “ballpark” valuations, screenshots without verifiable provenance, and historical offers are excluded.
- Eligible Competing Dealers: The competing dealer must be a registered second-hand goods dealer, or other dealer lawfully entitled to deal in precious metals under South African law, trading in good standing. Auction platforms, online marketplaces, peer-to-peer sellers, pawnbrokers operating outside the Second-Hand Goods Act, refiners not transacting with the public, and unlicensed buyers are excluded.
- Verification: GoldTrust may verify the competing quotation by any reasonable means, including direct contact with the competing dealer. The client authorises such contact by submitting a quotation under this guarantee.
- Anti-Manipulation: GoldTrust reserves the right to refuse to match any quotation that it reasonably believes to be inflated, fabricated, collusive, not made at arm’s length, obtained for the purpose of triggering this guarantee, or otherwise designed to manipulate it.
- Typographical and Manifest Errors: Quotations containing manifest errors, including pricing errors above prevailing market spot, typographical errors, or misdescription of the item, are excluded.
- One Match per Transaction: This guarantee is limited to one price match per item per transaction and may not be combined with any other promotion, discount, or referral incentive offered by GoldTrust.
- Amendment and Withdrawal: GoldTrust may amend, suspend, or withdraw this guarantee at any time, including where market conditions, gold-price volatility, or operational circumstances warrant. Amendment or withdrawal does not affect price matches already confirmed in writing prior to the change.
Payment, Real-Time Transfers and Banking Limitations
GoldTrust’s standard practice is to initiate payment to the client by electronic funds transfer immediately upon completion of the transaction, and where banking infrastructure permits we use real-time clearing so that funds reflect in the client’s account without delay. The clauses below clarify that the moment at which funds reflect is determined by the South African National Payment System, the originating and receiving banks, and statutory compliance processes, all of which lie outside GoldTrust’s control. Nothing in this section diminishes our operational commitment to pay clients as promptly as the banking system allows.
Payment Processing and Banking Infrastructure
- Initiation versus Settlement: GoldTrust’s payment obligation is discharged upon the irrevocable submission of a correctly addressed payment instruction to its bank. The time at which funds reflect in the client’s account is determined by the South African National Payment System and by the client’s bank, and is not within GoldTrust’s control.
- Real-Time Clearing: References on the Site to “Instant EFT”, “real-time payment”, or similar phrases describe payments initiated through the Real-Time Clearing system, PayShap, or any successor real-time payment rail offered by the participating South African banks. Such references are used in their ordinary commercial sense and are not a reference to any specific third-party branded product.
- Cut-Off Times: Real-time payments are subject to the cut-off times, business-hours rules, and processing windows of the originating and receiving banks, including without limitation any same-day cut-off applicable to real-time clearing (currently 16h00 South African Standard Time, subject to change by the participating banks).
- Weekends and Public Holidays: Payment instructions submitted on Saturdays, Sundays, South African public holidays, or outside banking business hours may, depending on the rail used and the receiving bank, only be processed on the next Business Day.
- Bank Limits: Payments are subject to per-transaction and daily transfer limits imposed by the originating and receiving banks. Where a transaction value exceeds an applicable limit, GoldTrust may settle by multiple tranches or by alternative payment method, and the client agrees to accept settlement on that basis.
- FICA and Anti-Money-Laundering Holds: Payments are subject to GoldTrust’s obligations under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 2001 (“FICA”), and to anti-fraud and anti-money-laundering checks performed by GoldTrust or by either bank. A payment may be delayed or withheld pending completion of such checks, and GoldTrust will not be liable for any delay so caused.
- Force Majeure and Third-Party Failures: GoldTrust shall not be liable for any delay or failure in payment caused by bank or payment-system downtime, scheduled or unscheduled maintenance, real-time clearing or PayShap outages, switch-operator failures, telecommunications failure, load-shedding, civil unrest, or any other event of force majeure. Without limiting the foregoing, GoldTrust is not liable for the acts or omissions of any third party, including any bank, payment-service provider, switch operator, or the South African Reserve Bank.
- Fallback to Standard EFT: Where the real-time clearing system is unavailable, the transaction value exceeds applicable real-time limits, or a real-time payment is rejected by the receiving bank, GoldTrust may process payment by standard electronic funds transfer, which typically clears within one to two Business Days.
- Banking Details: The client warrants that any banking details provided to GoldTrust are accurate, current, and held in the client’s own name. GoldTrust is not liable for losses arising from incorrect, outdated, or third-party banking details supplied by the client.
- No Warranty of Specific Timing: GoldTrust makes no warranty, express or implied, that any specific payment will reflect in the client’s account within any particular timeframe. Marketing statements describing typical payment speeds are descriptive of ordinary operating conditions and are subject to this clause.
- Definitions: “Business Day” means any day other than a Saturday, Sunday, or South African public holiday on which the South African banks are open for ordinary banking business.
User Conduct
Users of GoldTrust’s website are expected to conduct themselves lawfully and ethically. Misuse of the website, including fraudulent activities, misrepresentation, or engaging in any conduct that could damage GoldTrust’s reputation or interfere with its operations, is strictly prohibited. Users must ensure their activities on the site comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws.
Confidentiality
GoldTrust is committed to protecting the confidentiality of information shared by users during transactions or inquiries. We implement robust security measures to protect personal and transactional data. Users must respect the confidentiality of any information they access on the site not intended for public disclosure.
Compliance with Laws

Users warrant that all information provided to GoldTrust, whether for the purpose of transactions, registration, or any other use of the site, is accurate, complete, and up-to-date. Providing false or misleading information may lead to transaction cancellations, account suspension, or other legal actions.
