Why Sell Your Tudor to GoldTrust?
Tudor has moved from being “Rolex’s younger sibling” to a serious watch brand in its own right. The Black Bay family, Pelagos titanium, and Manufacture calibre references all support strong secondary-market values. Selling one well requires a buyer who can distinguish an ETA-powered early Black Bay from a Manufacture MT5602 at a glance.
At GoldTrust the inspection happens in private appointment offices. The reference is identified, the movement is inspected, and the offer is built in front of you. No back rooms, no pressure. If it does not work, the watch stays with you and there is no fee. If it does, payment via instant EFT lands in your account during the visit.
GoldTrust is a licensed second-hand goods dealer, registered high-value goods dealer, accountable institution, and Jewellery Council of South Africa member.
Tudor References We Buy
- Black Bay. 41mm, 36mm, 32mm, and GMT. Steel, bronze, and two-tone. Red, blue, black, and 58-style bezel variants. The flagship Tudor dive watch family.
- Black Bay Fifty-Eight. 39mm, steel and bronze, blue and black dial variants. One of the most in-demand Tudor references of recent years.
- Pelagos. 42mm and 39mm titanium professional dive watches. Pelagos FXD and Pelagos LHD variants. Helium escape valve, 500m water resistance.
- Heritage Chrono. Tudor’s chronograph family drawing on 1970s design heritage, in multiple bezel and dial variants.
- Royal. The integrated bracelet family introduced 2020, in steel, two-tone, and various dial configurations.
- North Flag. Titanium sports watch with power reserve indicator and in-house movement.
- Glamour and Style. Dress-leaning references with date and day-date complications.
- Vintage Tudor. Submariner (7016, 7928, 9411, 94010, 76100), Oyster Prince, Ranger, Advisor, and early Black Bay references. Condition and originality drive value significantly here.
What Affects Your Tudor’s Value
- Reference and variant. Dial colour, bezel, and case material all matter. A Black Bay Fifty-Eight is not priced the same as a base Black Bay even when they share a family.
- Movement. Manufacture calibre references (MT5602, MT5612, MT5621, MT5813) command a premium over ETA-powered earlier references.
- Condition. Case geometry, dial originality, bracelet or strap condition, and movement health. Unpolished cases support stronger offers.
- Box and papers. Presentation box, warranty card, extra links, and service history all feed the offer. The gap between full set and watch-only is smaller on Tudor than on top-tier brands but it is still meaningful.
- Production year. Early Black Bays (Heritage Black Bay, the 2012 launch references) have a following; very recent references carry whatever the current market supports.
- Vintage originality. For pre-2000 Tudor, dial, hands, bezel insert, crown, and bracelet originality are crucial. Replacements reduce value significantly.
Box, Papers, and Service History
A “full set” Tudor includes the watch, presentation box, outer box, warranty card, booklets, any spare links, and purchase invoice if available. Full sets support stronger offers, particularly on the Black Bay Fifty-Eight and Pelagos references where collectors expect completeness.
Watch-only is still perfectly sellable. The offer reflects what the watch brings by itself. On older Tudor, the watch is often the only thing that survives: paperwork from the 1970s and 1980s is rare, and its absence does not materially hurt the offer on most vintage pieces.
Preparing Your Tudor for Valuation
- Do not polish the case. Sharp edges and original finish support the best offer.
- Bring the full set if you have it. Box, warranty card, booklets, spare links.
- Note anything non-original. Replacement dial, bezel insert, strap, or bracelet. Upfront disclosure leads to the fastest valuation.
- Bring ID. Valid SA ID or passport for FIC compliance.
- Book an appointment at one of our offices across Gauteng, including Sandton, Pretoria, Centurion, Boksburg, Cresta, and Bedfordview. We also serve Umhlanga, Cape Town, and George . Home visits available in many areas by arrangement.
Inspection, reference identification, offer, and payment all happen in one appointment.
